Asanas – a system of special physical exercises

Generally, yoga is the most ancient method of improving a man. A person starts understanding that everything is interconnected in this imperfect world. If a man follows a healthy way of life, respect himself and surrounding, he realize very soon that any thought is material, everything he can see is alive and he is responsible for all of it. Harmony and awareness of real world refer to high level of contemplation and commitment. Expressing the action probably began long ago and still is going on. People went in for different sports. Some of them were exciting (for example, climbing mountains or windsurfing), others are dangerous (parachuting or cycling) and still others are strange (jumping off the bridges or keeping high temperature in sauna). People definitely like to participate in sports contests while other people are fond of watching games. My grandfather, for instance, loved sitting and watching television while some competitions were taking place somewhere. He would say that it helped him relax and go away from routine life. It was his private kind of contemplation surely. I don’t agree with him – sport seems to build character. Sport teaches to win and lose – it is very important in modern life. Actually it teaches everyone to learn more about life.

Yoga has been known for hundreds of years actually. Asanas are performed in slow temp and a man who is doing them can think deeply over his deals and behavior. It is not really a sport – it is rather wise understanding yourself and surrounding. I am sure that yoga helps work off my extra energy and spirit – Indian spirit after all – I love their attitude to life. They are moderate, calm and self-controlled. They are never in a hurry – just do what they have to. It was they who taught me to be disciplined and reserved.
